Here is another common area of focus for Island Orthotics Inc. An "inversion sprain" or a rolling of an ankle is a very common injury seen in court sports such as basketball and volleyball and can also occur in daily living with a slip or stumble. The injury is most commonly described as having the outside or "lateral" ankle bone roll out and the heel or "calcaneous" roll in and under, "inversion".
There are a number of devices used to treat this injury and depending on your activity level, joint stability, activity goals and history the most appropriate orthosis is recommend. This selection may vary from a simple ankle wrap to a custom orthosis but most commonly used orthosis is the Active Ankle and the Aircast Stirrup.
