Humeral fractures are upper arm fractures and are often times managed through an orthosis known as a Humeral Fracture Brace or Sarmenito Brace. This orthosis works by applying a clamshell like compression of the soft tissue of the arm and thereby provides a stabilizing effect to the humerus. The main advantage to this orthosis is that it allows the patient to mobilize the shoulder and elbow, is physically lightweight and can be removed for personal hygiene.
The orthosis is prefabricated and we stock a full inventory of both the mid arm version(short) and the over the shoulder version(long) as well. Your attending physician will advise you if this approach is appropriate.
